In the past, Ohio was always viewed as one of the most important states in deciding who would become the next President of the United States. While typically red leaning, Ohio is still considered a must-win state for both Republicans and Democrats alike. The Ohio general election will hold several races for state positions, 16 US House seats, and the office of the President on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
Coronavirus Update:
Ohio’s primaries for both parties were scheduled to be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2020. The DNC in the state sued to allow the primaries to go on as scheduled, but the Ohio Supreme Court upheld the delay. The new OH primary date was set at April 28, and as expected, Joe Biden soundly defeated Bernie Sanders, who dropped out before the election. Now that that’s over, of course, there’s still plenty to wager on at offshore election betting sites.

In the 2016 Presidential election in Ohio, voters chose Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton. Trump got 51.69% of the vote, while Clinton earned 43.56%. While the state is currently heavily Republican, OH can be fickle, and you should expect both parties to campaign heavily in the state in 2020 for the November general.
Because OH is an important battleground state that the Democrat party believes it has a chance to turn blue for 2020, the Ohio presidential primary was set to be a major event with lots of campaigning and build-up, but after the COVID-19 outbreak and Sanders dropping out, it became a foregone conclusion.
The DNC betting lines favored Joe Biden as the Democratic front-runner, and that turned out to be accurate, as he won easily.
In 2016, Ohio’s GOP primary was one of the few that Donald Trump didn’t win. The state’s then-governor, John Kasich, got 46.95% of the vote, handily defeating Trump, who took only 35.87%. However, Trump won out in the end, and Ohio was comfortably in his grasp this time around. Trump won the 2020 Ohio Republican primary easily, taking all 82 delegates.
Betting on political events has become an extremely popular form of gambling entertainment at offshore betting sites. (Remember, US-regulated domestic sportsbooks do not currently offer election betting of any kind.) As Ohio is such a crucial swing state, you can expect to find lots of OH-specific odds and lines as the primary and general elections approach in 2020. And who knows, maybe between now and then, Donald Trump will be impeached again and Ohio politician John Kasich will enter the race on the GOP side.
